Amadeus was founded by Lufthansa, Air France, Iberia, and Scandinavian Airlines in 1987 for the provision of computer reservations systems and IT solutions for online travel agencies. It is currently employing 19,000 people and operating in 195 countries. In 2018, Amadeus IT acquired TravelClick, a cloud-based service provider for the hotel industry, for €1.31B (EUR).
